PlayStation 3 graphics are said to be better than ever, so what makes them so good compared to previous models and consoles.
Blu-ray Disc
The PlayStation 3 graphics are enhanced by the use of Blu-ray disc technology as one of its primary storage mediums. Blu-ray disc boasts clear PlayStation 3 graphics as well as better sound than any other. This makes the PlayStation 3 graphics one of the best in the game console industry. The degree of almost realistic graphics of the game console is totally amazing and other gaming consoles do not come close to it at all.
In spite of this, there have been many who refuted claims that the PlayStation 3 graphics are really that exceptional. Claims that the other gaming consoles have superior graphics compared to the PlayStation 3 graphics have come out but many gamers do not care about these claims because all they want is better reaction time as well as real time gaming.
PlayStation 3 Graphics Hardware
The hardware that supports PlayStation 3 graphics is made by NVIDIA. Both Sony and NVDIA have brought a startling degree of realism to the PlayStation 3 graphics. The RSX or reality synthesizer is the main reason for this new degree of graphics in this particular gaming console. It is by far, the most sophisticated processor for graphics ever made and this combined with Cell technology will result to real time graphics and 3D imagery.
The new NVIDIA graphics processing can shell out some resolutions of 480i/576i SD up to 1080p HD. PlayStation 3 graphics have about 256 MB XDR in the main memory and around the same in the RSX video memory.
The PlayStation 3 graphics are simply stunning and Sony, along with NVIDIA have worked together to produce some scintilating visuals. The important thing to remember is that to make the most of these graphics, you should have an HD ready TV capable of broadcasting images in 1080p.

High definition scaling - what’s that all about? This problem crops up whenever your PS3 does not support HDTV and more particularly 1080p because it will end up causing your PlayStation 3 to set its console’s output to 1080i and that in turn will result in your image looking pretty ordinary.
Another PlayStation 3 problem occurs whenever you try playing PS2 games. This occurs even when you play the newer PS2 games as well as when playing the older games such as the Final Fantasy series. This PlayStation 3 problem has to do with how the menus are displayed and even the graphics may freeze up sometimes.
…and another thing, the next PlayStation 3 problem has to do with the capabilities of the PlayStation 3 in handling and playing back media. The fact of the matter is that it seems that the PlayStation 3 can only play JPG files as far as photographs are concerned, while on the music front the PlayStation 3 plays Sony music format as well as MP3, ATRAC, MPEG-4 and AAC. If you try and read media from CF or SD cards, you will encounter PlayStation 3 problems and the same will also occur when you try and get the PlayStation 3 to recognize a thumb drive that you might have attached with the help of a USB.
Hopefully these will be fixed soon by Sony with their continuous online updates.

Grand Theft Auto 4 (GTA 4) was released on the PS3 at the end of April. Having bought the game and played it for 3 weeks, I can now almost certainly say that this is the best console game I have ever played.
The sheer size of the game is staggering. The vast amount of plots, sub-plots and many side tracks add to this game’s addictiveness. You have a feeling of complete control over your character (Niko’s) destiny. Not restricted to linear tasks, you can perform tasks in order you feel like, meeting a variety of different characters along the way and adding them to your mobile contacts to ring whenever you feel like doing something with them i.e. dating Michelle, playing pool with Brucie or visiting a strip club with Roman.
